Acharya Morning Meditation

Morning Meditation

Morning meditation is devised to bring you to live in your today, to break your unconsciousness, and to bring you into consciousness. It pushes you right into life. In this entire morning meditation, you have to remain a complete witness. You have to watch yourself, watch your every action, watch every thought. The entire purpose is designed to make you remain in your total consciousness so that you are reminded right from the morning that you have to remain in consciousness.

When you get up in the morning, after completing your breakfast, when you walk towards the meditation center- your meditation room, try to be as quiet as possible. Practice your walking meditation and step into the meditation center. As soon as the morning meditation begins, continue being in your alertness, in your witnessing and melt into the meditation technique – simply merge with it.

The Morning meditation technique has been designed to take you one step ahead of age old breathing meditation because in breathing meditation, you submerge yourself in your breathing and you completely forget about your watching, and here is where the damage is done. In the olden days, watching your breath was easy but now if you are told watch to your breath, you may watch it for a few minutes, and then again you will go back to your unconscious truth. This is the reason why morning meditation is one step ahead of breathing meditation. In this meditation technique, you have to begin with slow breathing and then move to breathing vigorously so that you are not lost in your breathing and then immediately move to fast dancing. You have to dance to the maximum as if there is no tomorrow. Just simply remain a witness, be in your consciousness, be in your alertness.

This meditation lasts 60 minutes and has four stages. Each stage ends with a gong sound. Watching yourself is to be carried out in all four stages. Keep your eyes closed in all the stages. You can open your eyes when each stage ends and enter the next stage with your eyes closed.

First stage

Remain standing, watchfully breathe in and out through your nose but very slowly. Hear the sound of breathing, start with slow breathing then consciously move to fast breathing that suits yourself. The better and clearer you will be breath, the better will be your watchfulness. Do not breathe too hard. After doing the conscious breathing for a few moments - then move your body with slow body movements, dance with slow music, and continue to dance to the fullest but slowly. Do not try to cope with music, do not rhythm yourself with the music, just be yourself, just dance. Do any type of dance, do any steps of dance. Do not get too tired, do slow dancing. The idea is to move your body, remain a witness -watch your thoughts, your actions, be a spectator of all thoughts all actions.

Duration of the first stage is 15 minutes.

Second Stage

Remain standing - Witness yourself - remain in total consciousness - just dance slowly move your body, and then slowly synchronize your body from slow music to fast music. Just let go of yourself - dance vigorously with the fast music, jump, scream and make the noises you want to make. Move your shoulders, your head, your hands, your legs, and make sure your entire body moves. Throw your body around the experience that you and your body are not one. Express yourself fully hold nothing, just let go! Be in comfortable dancing, do not exert yourself. Remain a witness, watch your thoughts, your actions, watch your body dance as if there is no tomorrow.

Duration of the second stage is 15 minutes.

Third Stage

Remain standing and just dance slowly, move your body. Move your hands upwards, sideways, swing your hands. Move your entire body slowly; shake yourself but slowly and continue with slow dancing. Sink yourself in the slow music, feel your heartbeats, feel your emotions, watch yourself, remain witness, watch your every body movement, remain in total consciousness.

Duration of the third stage is 15 minutes.

Fourth stage

Remain standing - Stop all your dancing, just freeze. In your total tiredness, come to a complete standstill. Become completely non-active, remain in the position wherever you are, and just freeze for some time. The posture may be awkward, wild, or inconvenient but just freeze in it. Remain in freeze mode for a few moments. Feel this posture, and then just sit silently wherever you are in any position. Forget if your back is upright or not. Place your one palm over another, just sit in silence - remain in watching, remain in witnessing – watch your every thought which is now bombarded in you. Let there be any thought of sadness, guilt, anger, happiness, laughter - remain in witnessing. Do not let go of the watching and you will reach consciousness at its utmost peak.

Duration of the third stage is 15 minutes.

Morning meditation is like an eye-opener to your consciousness. It will push your consciousness, it will remind and tell you to remain in your consciousness. It is one of the most powerful meditation techniques, devised to be done each morning. It is advised that this meditation technique should be done in the meditation center for at least ten weeks, then slowly and slowly, you can practice morning meditation at home once your heart accepts and starts coming into consciousness.

Morning meditation should be practiced within the first 2 hours of getting up from bed. You may take some light breakfast before practicing morning meditation. Body bath has nothing to do with meditation. It is advisable to start all your daily routine work after you practice morning meditation.
People may say that meditation techniques seem like nothing but a wild dance. Let them say – only from the wild, you can come into being civilized. The wild dance technique is designed to make you let go – to make you accept all that is within you – acceptance is the key to meditation.

During meditation, you may have thought to scratch your body, to move your body, or adjust your sitting position. Let all this happen! Do not stop any thought, just flow with it, watch it – during the last stage of sitting in silence, you may suddenly get reminded that today you may have missed an important meeting or you have missed an important due date – do not get up to make a phone call. You may feel some uneasiness because of all the dancing and jumping. Simply, watch your thoughts, you will realize those old thoughts go and new thoughts take their place – the very technique of meditation is to make you aware that thoughts come and go –you have been giving unnecessary importance to every thought – your realization will make way for the inner silence- it will slowly take you into acceptance.

Become a watcher and not the doer- experience that you and your body are separate.

Watching yourself during meditation practice cannot and should mean to refrain you from taking actions- actions are also part of your thought process- watch your actions too.

People with medical trouble should restrict their deliberate vigorous breathing, dance, and jumping to the limit that their body permits. Do not try to do what others are doing – do not copy anyone - there is no one to give you marks – simply be yourself - the very idea of meditation is not to force but to liberate yourself from the force itself.

Do not watch your pain to an extent that you stop the intake of medical help. Meditation should be added to your life it is not a substitute for any medical help. Meditation should not be done with a hungry stomach, the comfort of the body is equally important.

The music, the dancing, breathing, body movements, and body positions are devices designed and mixed together to bring you into meditativeness. Watchfulness and witnessing is the key to meditation. without coming into watching yourself and witnessing - all the techniques will be just like a dance practice or body exercises, watching yourself and your thoughts is meditation.
